Footage of the Saturday shooting captured by KTLA showed a white sedan with its driver's-side door left open, surrounded by law enforcement. Crime scene tape blocked off part of the street as investigators combed the area for evidence. The station reported that a suspect was seen running from the location after the shooting, though no description of that person had been released as of Saturday morning, and no arrests had been made.
Both victims in the Saturday shooting were transported to a hospital, but their conditions were not immediately available, nor were details about what led up to the shooting. Deputies eventually cleared the scene, leaving open questions about what sparked the gunfire and whether the sedan with its door left ajar was targeted or somehow involved in the shooting.
An Unincorporated Community Without Its Own Police Force
The shooting unfolded in Lennox, an unincorporated community spanning roughly 1.10 square miles. The LA County Chief Executive Office says County departments provide law enforcement in unincorporated areas.

A Street With a Violent Recent History
Saturday's shooting wasn't the first time gunfire has torn through Lennox Boulevard this year. On June 8, a separate shooting at Burin Avenue and Lennox Boulevard sent a Dodge crashing into a beauty salon, killing a woman in her 30s and leaving a man hospitalized; his condition was unknown. LASD homicide detectives investigated that June 8 attack as potentially gang-related, according to CBS News Los Angeles. The community has also seen major violence in years past — in September 2017, a gunman shot three people during a carjacking and homicide spree across Lennox and Culver City, a case that ended in a life-without-parole sentence in 2020, as Hoodline previously reported.
Saturday's shooting also lands amid a rough stretch for South Los Angeles more broadly. Just days earlier, on September 21, three co-workers were shot at a senior living facility on Denver Avenue, part of a string of violent incidents Hoodline has tracked across the region this month.
Potential Charges if a Suspect Is Identified
As of Saturday morning, no suspect description had been released and no arrests had been made in connection with Saturday's shooting, but California law lays out steep penalties for the kinds of crimes investigators are examining. Maliciously discharging a firearm at an occupied motor vehicle is a felony under California Penal Code Section 246, punishable by three, five, or seven years in state prison, according to the Shouse Law Group.
