Two people were shot shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday in the 3100 block of Nobles Avenue, off West Boulevard in west Charlotte. One man had life-threatening injuries and later died; the other had non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said officers responded to the location shortly before 6 p.m., according to Queen City News. The report said both men were taken to a hospital. At the time of its initial report, no suspects had been identified.

A 2023 report by WFAE said the City of Charlotte and community organizations identified improving public-safety infrastructure as one goal for the West Boulevard corridor, separate from the investigation into this shooting. The Mecklenburg County Office of Violence Prevention says the city and county launched the Alternatives to Violence program in corridors including West Boulevard, in partnership with Cure Violence Global, Youth Advocate Programs and the Urban League of the Central Carolinas.
