Jucy's Taco has shut down its Tyler location at 2701 Old Henderson Highway after a two-year run, ending the Tex-Mex concept's brief presence in the city. The closure leaves Jucy's Taco with four remaining East Texas storefronts, one in Marshall and three in Longview.
The Tyler restaurant opened in early October 2024, according to Tyler Morning Telegraph. A store representative told the paper that lower-than-expected sales volume and the inherent difficulty of the location were behind the decision to close.
Jucy's Taco is a Tex-Mex spinoff of Jucy's Hamburgers, and the closure effectively ends the taco concept's run in Tyler. Management said the company is taking good care of its employees, and staff members from the Old Henderson Highway location have transitioned into open roles at neighboring Jucy's Hamburgers restaurants, per the same report.
East Texas Footprint Now Down To Four Spots
With Tyler gone, Jucy's Taco operates one location in Marshall and three in Longview, leaving the chain's East Texas presence smaller than it was just a year ago. The pattern is not new for the company: the Tyler closure fits a broader trend in which several former Jucy's Taco sites have either shut down or been converted into Jucy's Hamburgers restaurants.
A Henderson location was replaced by a Jucy's Hamburgers restaurant in 2025, the outlet reported. Before that, a Palestine location that had operated since 2020 was converted into a Jucy's Hamburgers storefront in 2023 — a shift also noted by a reviewer on Tripadvisor, who described the restaurant as having recently changed from Jucy's Tacos to its more familiar Jucy's Hamburgers.
Taken together, the closures suggest the taco concept has struggled to hold ground in some East Texas markets even as its burger-focused sibling brand has kept its footing. For now, the four remaining Jucy's Taco locations in Marshall and Longview continue to operate as the last outposts of the Tex-Mex spinoff in the region.
