A Union County father of two was killed riding his motorcycle on Memorial Day weekend, and more than three months later, the man accused of causing the crash still has not been found. Logan Knapp, 27, of Caledonia, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Harley-Davidson was struck by a car at the intersection of Winnemac Road and State Route 739 on May 23, 2026. The suspect, 24-year-old Diego Andres Parra Vega of Columbus, remains the subject of an active search by the Union County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened when Parra Vega allegedly ran a stop sign and struck Knapp's motorcycle. Knapp was riding with a passenger, longtime friend Chelsey Kearns, who was ejected from the bike along with him, as reported by WSYX. Kearns was severely injured and placed on a ventilator as she fought for her life, and she has said she rode with Knapp almost every day.
A Family Left Without a Husband, Son, and Father
Knapp worked in agriculture at Pugh Farms and was a member of the Caledonia Church of Christ, according to his obituary from Timson & Melroy Funeral Home. He was survived by his two young children, son Winston and daughter Haven, the funeral home noted. His mother, Bernadette Edler, told the station that Knapp made people happy and made everything better, while his sister, Sheala Edler, called his death unfair. Kearns learned of Knapp's death after the crash and has said he was a huge part of his family's lives; the family says it plans to keep fighting until justice is served.
The station's report notes that the Union County Sheriff's Office has charged Parra Vega with vehicular manslaughter and vehicular homicide. Under Ohio Revised Code § 2903.06(A)(4), vehicular manslaughter applies when a driver proximately causes a death while committing a minor misdemeanor traffic violation, such as running a stop sign, according to Ohio law. The related charge of vehicular homicide, defined under the same statute as causing death through negligent driving, is also listed in the report.
Suspect's Apartment Found Empty
When Union County Sheriff's deputies went looking for Parra Vega at his last known residence on Sawmill Road in Dublin, they found the apartment completely vacant with no active signs that anyone had been living there. His arrest warrant has since been entered into national law enforcement databases, a step that would instantly notify law enforcement agencies across the country.
Lieutenant Joshua Kent provided information on behalf of the Union County Sheriff's Office, which is asking anyone with information about Parra Vega's whereabouts to call 937-645-4110. The report does not say whether any physical sightings of Parra Vega have been publicly reported.
A Growing County, a Dangerous Intersection

For Knapp's family, those numbers are secondary to the fact that the man they say is responsible for his death remains unaccounted for, months after the crash that took him from his children, his church, and the community that knew him.
