A Victorville balloon artist just helped shatter a Guinness World Record, spending days twisting latex into a Willy Wonka-inspired fantasy world built from nearly a million balloons. Lorena “Nina” Cesena took part in the “Willy Balloons Experience” in Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico, an installation that used more than 940,000 balloons and drew balloon artists from around the globe.
According to the Victorville Daily Press, Cesena is a Victorville resident who helped break the Guinness World Record for balloon art. The installation itself officially set the record after utilizing exactly 945,321 latex balloons. That total established a record-setting installation.
The record attempt was staged as a free public exhibition at the University Cultural Pavilion in Zapopan, running from August 29 through August 31, according to Secret Media Network. The build brought together 217 artists working to finish the sculpture.
A Charlie and the Chocolate Factory World Rebuilt in Balloons
The finished installation recreated a Willy Wonka chocolate factory, according to the same YouTube footage. The balloon-built environments were part of the exhibition's three-day run.
Cesena took part in the elaborate balloon work in Zapopan, joining the artists involved in the international record attempt.
