A verbal argument inside a Victorville apartment turned into gunfire on Wednesday, sending bullets through the ceiling and into the apartment above before the shooter fled and was later tracked down at a hospital. No one was hurt, but 36-year-old Pablo Luna now sits in custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
According to VVNG, Victorville Station deputies responded to a report of shots fired in the 14000 block of El Evado Road. Per the preliminary investigation, a female victim and Luna had gotten into a verbal dispute inside a first-floor apartment before the confrontation escalated. Authorities say Luna retrieved a firearm during the argument and discharged it, with several rounds striking the ceiling and traveling into the second-floor apartment above.
Woman Fled as Shots Rang Out
The outlet's report notes that the woman fled the apartment as the shooting unfolded and was later located safely in the surrounding area. Luna himself reportedly fell while firing the weapon before leaving the location. He was ultimately found at a local hospital, where deputies took him into custody.
Luna was booked at the High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto on suspicion of attempted murder under California Penal Code 664/187(a), the same account states. No injuries were reported in connection with the shooting, despite rounds tearing through the floor separating the two units.
A Familiar Address for Victorville Gunfire
The 14000 block of El Evado Road has seen gun violence before. Back in 2020, a Saturday afternoon shooting at The Colony at Victorville apartment complex on that same block left two men injured, according to vvdailypress.com. In that earlier case, San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to reported gunshots at approximately 1:23 p.m. and found two men with apparent gunshot wounds who were transported to local hospitals. That report noted that no suspects had been arrested at the time, with authorities saying they had made no arrests related to the shooting.
