A 28-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured Saturday after swerving to avoid an oncoming car in Waiʻanae and crashing into a wooden fence, according to a report cited by police. The other driver continued away from the scene, and Honolulu police are seeking information about the unidentified motorist.

According to Honolulu Star-Advertiser, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on Lualualei Homestead Road at about 11:40 a.m. Saturday when an unidentified motorist traveling south on Moekahi Street entered the intersection and moved into the rider's path. The motorcyclist swerved into the eastbound lane, continued onto a concrete sidewalk and struck a wooden fence.
The rider was not wearing a helmet, according to the same report. Honolulu emergency medical services personnel treated him at the scene before taking him to a hospital in serious condition.
