A new 200-seat restaurant named AP Tommy's is preparing to open at 7410 Orchard Lake Road in West Bloomfield, and it carries the name of a man who spent decades building Metro Detroit's Greek dining scene before his death last year. The restaurant will serve Greek cuisine alongside steaks, seafood, wine and cocktails, with dishes like moussaka, charbroiled lamb chops, saganaki, whole grilled fish, beef kabobs and bone-in filet mignon on the menu.
Owner Andy Stylianou named the restaurant after his mentor and father-in-law, Tommy Peristeris, according to The Detroit News. Peristeris, identified in his obituary as Athanasios “Tommy” Peristeris, died in February 2025 at age 77. His obituary, published by O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home, notes that memorial donations were directed to establish the Peristeris Family Endowed Fund for Pediatric Research at the University of Michigan C.S. Mott Children's Hospital.
A Family Legacy Rooted on Orchard Lake Road
Peristeris co-founded Big Daddy's Parthenon in West Bloomfield and Little Daddy's Parthenon, a Coney Island expansion chain. Stylianou said West Bloomfield has always been part of his family's story, and that relationships built there lasted for generations, with guests continuing to support Big Tommy's Parthenon in Novi even after the family's West Bloomfield presence ended.
Stylianou said he is carrying the family legacy forward with a modern approach. He and his wife, Eleni Stylianou, Peristeris' daughter, already run Big Tommy's Parthenon in Novi, a Greek restaurant that also houses Big Tommy's Comedy Club, a venue hosting monthly stand-up comedy and community fundraising events, according to the Big Tommy's Parthenon events page.
A Menu Built on Family Recipes
Beyond the steakhouse staples, AP Tommy's will feature Tommy's chopped salad and a family spinach-pie recipe, dishes tied directly to the family's culinary history. The first Little Daddy's opened in Southfield in 1997 and served Coney Islands, gyros, sandwiches and Tommy Salads, according to a report from Deadline Detroit. The Bloomfield Hills location of Little Daddy's, on Woodward Avenue, closed after 25 years in business.
Prime Real Estate on a Busy Corridor
The stretch of Orchard Lake Road between 14 Mile Road and Maple Road sees 41,240 vehicles pass daily, while the separate segment between Maple Road and Walnut Lake Road sees 31,350, per data from Beztak, making Orchard Lake Road one of Oakland County's busiest retail arteries.
AP Tommy's could open as early as the week after Monday, per a media alert cited by The Detroit News. For a family that has moved from Greektown's waterfalls to Novi's comedy stage, the return to Orchard Lake Road marks another chapter built on the same recipes, and the same name, that carried them there.
