Earlier, three westbound lanes near Mountain Avenue were closed for an investigation, while both lanes of the westbound 60 on-ramp from Central Avenue were shut after a separate collision. KTLA reported that traffic had backed up as far as the 15 Freeway by 9 a.m.
Preliminary details from the two scenes
The first fatal collision was reported at about 5:55 a.m. near Mountain Avenue. A report from Johnson Attorneys Group said a green motorcycle, a utility truck and a third vehicle were involved and that the motorcyclist died at the scene. KTLA, citing preliminary information in the California Highway Patrol incident log, reported that the rider ended up in the freeway lanes and that the coroner’s office had been requested.
A second collision was reported at about 6:36 a.m. near Central Avenue, roughly one mile from the first scene. KTLA reported that a semi-truck collided with a Lexus and then went up an embankment. One driver was taken to a hospital and later died. The report said it had not been established which vehicle that driver occupied.

The two incidents occurred about 41 minutes apart on the westbound 60, with the Mountain Avenue exit preceding Central Avenue. KTLA reported that the closures remained in place while crews investigated and advised motorists to avoid the area during the morning.
