A 23-year-old Williamsport man already jailed without bail in the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Nasir I. Kramer is now facing burglary charges after police say DNA evidence ties him to a break-in at a local gun store nearly three years earlier. Zyriece Kimari Walker was linked through DNA to the November 3, 2023, burglary at National Range and Armory, according to investigators.
The connection came together after police collected DNA samples from the burglary scene, where officers found blood droplets on a broken display window, a gun left behind in a smashed case, and evidence elsewhere inside the business, as reported by PennLive. Investigators seized clothing bearing blood droplets and broken glass from Walker's residence back in 2023, and forensic testing later matched that DNA to the sample collected from the smashed window, according to Patch. Walker's DNA matched the DNA collected at the burglary scene, and one of the burglars had broken into a display case and placed seven guns in a backpack before three people fled the scene, per the PennLive report.
Walker is now charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy, receiving stolen property, firearms offenses, possession of instruments of crime, and criminal mischief in connection with the 2023 break-in. He already faced homicide, illegal firearm possession as a convicted felon, and flight to avoid apprehension charges tied to Kramer's death. Police executed a search warrant at the residence where Walker was living as part of the investigation, the outlet notes.
How the Fatal Shooting Unfolded
Kramer, 18, was killed during an exchange of gunfire that occurred during a planned fistfight near Memorial Avenue and Lloyd Street in Williamsport. Walker is accused of firing the June 29 shot that killed Kramer, and the exchange of gunfire also wounded two other people, per the same PennLive account. Walker was arrested by police on July 1, two days after the shooting, inside a residence on Jordan Avenue in Montoursville, according to the Williamsport Sun-Gazette, though court documents regarding his arrest were initially sealed.
Police court filings revealed that 18-year-old Kamaj Lee Smith, also a Williamsport resident, allegedly brought a stolen handgun along with six packages of marijuana and ecstasy pills in a backpack to the fistfight where Kramer was killed, the Sun-Gazette reported. Smith is charged with receiving stolen property, riot, firearms offenses, possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. Whether any of the seven firearms stolen in the 2023 burglary were ever recovered or turned up in the June shooting remains an open question that has not been resolved by investigators.
A Gun Store Hit Repeatedly
National Range and Armory, a Williamsport firearms business, has been targeted several times in recent years, according to PennLive. During the 2023 incident, two people broke a window at the store by throwing rocks, and police were separately dispatched to UPMC Williamsport for a 14-year-old with a gunshot wound to his foot the same night. The store operates the only public 8-lane indoor shooting range within a 70-mile radius, offering gunsmithing, safety courses, and retail firearm sales, according to its own materials.
A separate burglary at the same store on June 6, 2025, involved a stolen SUV and a high-speed police chase, and led to a federal grand jury indicting teenagers Tahir Dixon and Shamir Gadson under Operation Take Back America, according to Newsradio 1070 WKOK. Dixon and Gadson admitted to throwing bricks and cinder blocks to break a window, stealing firearms, and fleeing to Philadelphia, and both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal from a licensed firearm dealer. Dixon and Gadson each received a 30-month prison term followed by two years of supervised release, per PennLive, though Dixon is still scheduled for a formal guilty plea in Lycoming County court next month while Gadson is headed to trial there.
In December 2025, emergency responders were also dispatched to National Range and Armory after a woman suffered an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the shooting range, according to Backyard Broadcasting, though authorities concluded no other suspects were involved in that incident.
Firearms Theft Reporting Rules and Statewide Numbers
Federal law requires Federal Firearms Licensees to report any stolen or missing firearms to both the ATF and local law enforcement within 48 hours of discovery, according to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Between 2020 and 2024, licensed firearm dealers in Pennsylvania reported 4,502 firearms lost or stolen from their commercial inventories, according to Brady United, with such thefts often involving broken storefront glass to access unsecured display cases.
Williamsport's police call volume has risen past 12,900 annual responses as city officials grapple with an uptick in violent crimes, including homicides and armed robberies, the Sun-Gazette has reported. Data published in March 2026 shows firearms are the leading cause of death among children and teens in Pennsylvania, with an average of 156 youths killed by guns each year, and 74 percent of those deaths classified as homicides, according to EveryStat. Walker remains jailed without bail as his case moves through the court system.
