A print sale at the VFW post on Prospect Avenue in Windsor Terrace displayed 30 framed photographs of Prospect Park by 17-year-old Isabelle Ginsberg. Brooklyn Paper reported that 27 prints sold Sunday and that attendees also made donations beyond their purchases. Proceeds were designated for Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
The work on display
Ginsberg photographed the park over a year and across four seasons. The images included trees, wildlife, athletes, people and quieter parts of the landscape. Prospect Park covers 526 acres and was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, according to NYC Parks.
Why the proceeds matter
Brooklyn Paper reported that Ginsberg's father, Alex Ginsberg, was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2020 and is now in remission. That family experience helped lead Ginsberg and her mother, Lauren Walsh, to direct the sale's proceeds toward cancer research and patient care.
