Winter Haven police are seeking the public's help identifying a person shown in photos in connection with damage to a vehicle parked outside the city's downtown parking garage. The incident happened on September 11, and investigators have not publicly identified the person.
The Winter Haven Public Safety Department said the person pictured is wanted for questioning in connection with the vehicle damage and asked anyone who recognizes the subject to contact police.
What Investigators Are Asking For
Police have not released additional details about the vehicle, the extent of the damage, or the contents of the photos beyond what was shared in the department's post. The same goes for the exact time of the incident that day; those specifics have not been made public as the case remains open.
Anyone who recognizes the person in the photos is asked to contact Detective Orphee directly at 863-401-2256. The department is also accepting tips through a simpler route for anyone who would rather not call: sending an inbox message straight to its Facebook page.
A Separate Garage Incident
The available information does not establish whether Winter Haven Police Department or city records show earlier vehicle-damage, vandalism or criminal-mischief reports at or near the garage. In a separate incident, WTSP reported that at least six fire extinguishers, valued at $200 each, were stolen from the downtown parking garage at 220 Ave. A NW beginning December 16; that theft investigation is distinct from the current vehicle-damage case.
No Word Yet on an Arrest
It's not clear whether the tip line has produced any leads, and there's been no indication from police about whether an arrest or citation has followed. For now, the case hinges on whether someone in the community recognizes the subject captured in those photos and comes forward with a name.
