A 31-year-old woman was injured in a shooting just after 9 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of West Market Street near the Lincoln Bar and Grill in York, and police say she is expected to survive her injuries. York City detectives are now investigating what led to the gunfire in the busy corridor.
According to the York Daily Record, York City police spokesperson Daniel Lentz confirmed the woman is expected to survive and that detectives were actively working the case. Separately, abc27 reported that one woman was injured in the Friday night shooting in York city and that detectives were investigating.

In an unrelated wrinkle, emergency dispatchers received reports of shots fired on West Market Street around 10:29 a.m. Friday, according to local21news.com. That outlet reported that the York City Police Department believed that earlier incident was self-inflicted, and that the coroner had not been called at the time of its report.
West Market Street's Troubled History
West Market Street has been the scene of gun violence before. In 2022, York City police investigated a shooting around midnight in the 500 block of West Market Street that killed a 19-year-old man, according to a report from yorkdispatch.com. That shooting followed the death of a 28-year-old man on Wallace Street just days earlier, making it the second homicide in York City within a matter of days, per the same yorkdispatch.com account.
Accounts of that 2022 case diverge on where it fit into the city's yearly homicide count.
