A 39-year-old woman was hospitalized Thursday afternoon after being shot near San Antonio's North Side, and she told officers she has no idea who pulled the trigger. San Antonio police responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Alhambra, where they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound.
The woman was taken to a local hospital with a gunshot wound to her lower extremity, according to news4sanantonio.com. Officers on scene spoke with her following the shooting, and she said she did not know who was responsible.
Investigation Remains Open With No Suspect Identified
As of Saturday, the investigation remains ongoing, per the same outlet's report. No further details about a possible motive, suspect description, or how many shots were fired have been released alongside the initial report.
The 1400 block of Alhambra has drawn police attention before. In 2019, San Antonio police responded to a shooting at about 3:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of Alhambra Street, according to KSAT. It is not established whether that address is the same location as Thursday's shooting.
Earlier Alhambra Case Ended in Felony Arrest
In that 2019 incident, officers found a 30-year-old man in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, and he was rushed to University Hospital, KSAT reported. Police later arrested 27-year-old David Rodolfo Soto, saying he shot the man over a drug dispute.
Soto faced several felony charges stemming from that case, including two counts of drug possession with intent to deliver and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, along with charges tied to a firearm and body armor found in his possession. His bail was set at $190,000, according to KSAT's report at the time.
No such arrest or charges have been announced in connection with Thursday's shooting. Anyone with information is encouraged to cooperate with San Antonio police as the case continues to develop.
