A women-owned sports bar that built its name in East Sacramento has planted its flag on a golf course. Clubhouse 56 opened a second location on August 12 inside WildHawk Golf Club at 7713 Vineyard Road, taking over the clubhouse restaurant space and bringing its scratch-made burgers and game-day crowd to the fairways of Vineyard.

The new outpost, Clubhouse 56 @ WildHawk, is run by Lisa Scoto, Cathy Scoto and Tanya Breinig, the trio behind the original Clubhouse 56, according to The Sacramento Bee. State filings show the expansion operates under the corporate entity TLC Legacy LLC, which submitted the paperwork to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control under the license name Clubhouse 56 @ WildHawk, according to What Now Sacramento. The new location replaced the WildHawk Grille, which had operated the course's onsite restaurant for years, according to the Sacramento Business Journal.

From 56th Street to the 9th Green

Scoto, Scoto and Breinig purchased the original Clubhouse 56 on 56th Street in East Sacramento in 2025, according to the business's website, though that flagship location first opened back in 2010. Built around chef-prepared, scratch-made food, a full bar and a weekday happy hour running from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the East Sacramento spot established the formula the owners are now replicating at the golf course, per the same What Now Sacramento report.

The WildHawk menu will lean on the same crowd-pleasers that made the original a destination: the Whiskey 56 Burger, a smash burger, fish tacos and a hot pastrami sandwich, all popular items according to Yelp reviews of the East Sacramento location. The fuller menu spans small dishes, appetizers, soups, salads, burgers and sandwiches, with 10 beers on tap according to the business's website. WildHawk Golf Club itself is open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

A Public Course With a New Look

WildHawk Golf Club opened in 1998 as an 18-hole championship public golf course, featuring natural water features, four sets of tees and a clubhouse patio overlooking the 9th and 18th greens, according to the same What Now Sacramento account. The course is owned by Southgate Recreation & Park District, the public agency established in 1956 that serves unincorporated south Sacramento County and the Vineyard area and marked its 70th anniversary in August 2026.

Southgate has also invested in the property this year, adding a new patio shade structure to improve outdoor dining and viewing conditions near the greens, according to a Southgate Recreation & Park District post. The upgrade lands just as a new food and beverage operator settles into the clubhouse, giving golfers and visitors alike a shaded spot to watch play or catch a game.

Building a Regional Watch-Party Following

Clubhouse 56 has already carved out an identity beyond casual neighborhood traffic as a place to watch Kings, 49ers or Giants games, and the bar has hosted watch parties ranging from Golden State Valkyries WNBA games to Portuguese international soccer matches complete with traditional dishes, according to KCRA. That mix of local sports loyalty and international fan events has helped the bar draw crowds well outside its own neighborhood.

Pairing a public golf course with an established local sports bar isn't new territory for the Sacramento region. Hoodline previously covered MacKenzie's Sports Bar & Grille, which has long operated at Haggin Oaks Golf Complex in Del Paso Park, a similar arrangement that lets golf facilities attract non-golfer dining traffic.

Part of a Bigger Boom in Women-Owned Bars

Clubhouse 56's expansion also fits into a fast-growing national trend. Women-owned sports bars have surged from a single venue in 2022 to at least 28 open or planned locations across the country by mid-2025, according to Axios. Rising interest in women's sports viewership has been a driving force behind that growth.

Corporate sponsors have taken notice too. A 2026 brand initiative sponsored open food and drink tabs across 10 women-owned bars nationwide during the U.S. Open women's finals, according to Trend Hunter, a sign that national marketers are increasingly targeting these venues for experiential campaigns. Whether Clubhouse 56 taps into that sponsorship wave remains to be seen, but its second location gives it a bigger stage to try.
