Prince William County is getting its own taste of the multi-restaurant food hall craze next week, as Wonder opens a new location at Smoketown Station in Woodbridge. The digital food hall, which lets customers order dishes from more than 20 restaurants and cuisines in a single transaction, will hold its grand opening at 13257 Worth Ave. on Thursday, September 17.
The Woodbridge opening was first reported by InsideNoVa, which detailed the new site's celebrity-chef lineup and community giveaways. The storefront sits inside Smoketown Station, identified as a Kimco site by Kimco Realty.
Wonder's model centers on pulling recipes from name-brand chefs and outside restaurants into a single kitchen, then offering them all through one app, on-site counter, or delivery order. The Woodbridge menu will feature dishes from José Andrés, Bobby Flay, Michael Symon, and Marcus Samuelsson, alongside fare from Magnolia Bakery and Tejas Barbecue, according to the InsideNoVa report. Customers will have dine-in, pickup, and delivery options, and the first 100 orders of $10 or more will receive a Wonder swag bag as part of the opening celebration.
A Charity Tie-In and a Growing Local Footprint
Wonder will also partner with the Capital Area Food Bank for a roundup program tied to the launch, per the same InsideNoVa account. The Woodbridge site adds to a cluster of existing Wonder locations already operating in Leesburg, Reston, Sterling, and Alexandria, plus a spot in the Signal Hill Shopping Center in Manassas — meaning Prince William County residents already had a nearby option before this new storefront opened.
The Woodbridge debut fits into a much larger regional push. Wonder has laid out plans to eventually operate more than 30 locations across the region, according to Axios Washington D.C. Wonder expanded into Northern Virginia in late 2025 with openings in Franconia and Reston, and it has confirmed plans for a Route 50 location in Chantilly slated to open in 2027, as reported by FFXnow.
Big Money Behind the Rapid Rollout
The Woodbridge opening arrives amid a period of explosive growth for the company nationally. Wonder expanded its physical footprint from 46 locations in May 2025 to 140 locations by mid-2026, more than tripling its store count in roughly 13 months, according to MarketScale. That expansion has been fueled by a fresh $650 million Series D funding round closed in July at a $9 billion pre-money valuation, with investors including Accel, GV, NEA, AllianceBernstein, and ARK Invest, as reported by the Retail Technology Innovation Hub.
Wonder's reach now extends well beyond food halls themselves. The company owns Grubhub, per Nation's Restaurant News. Its business interests also extend beyond food halls.
Founder Eyes an IPO
Wonder founder and CEO Marc Lore built his reputation on prior retail exits, having previously co-founded Quidsi, the parent company of Diapers.com, and Jet.com — sold to Amazon for $545 million in 2011 and to Walmart for $3.3 billion in 2016, respectively, per Tech Funding News. Wonder is targeting an IPO as early as 2027, with more than $3 billion in cumulative capital raised since 2021 backing that push, the outlet reports.
For now, the immediate news for Prince William County shoppers is simpler: a new food hall stocked with more than 20 restaurant concepts opens its doors Thursday at Smoketown Station, joining Wonder's growing cluster of Northern Virginia locations.
