Boaters launching from the free public ramp on Faye Road in Yulee will soon have new restrooms. Nassau County has announced a new restroom project at the John F. Claxton Boat Ramp, bringing planned modern amenities to a site that has served as a community gathering spot for residents and visitors.
According to a Nassau County, FL announcement, construction on the new restroom project at the ramp — also known locally as the Wilson Neck Boat Ramp — is planned as part of the county's improvements at the site. The project centers on a new building that will include modern restroom facilities.
Years of Planning Behind the Project
The restroom project didn't come together overnight. Nassau County allocated $250,000 from its General Fund into the Capital Project Fund during its 2024 Winter Strategic Planning Session specifically to fund the Wilson Neck Boat Ramp restroom project, according to county financial documents. The Board of County Commissioners then approved a piggyback agreement with Romtec Inc. in December 2025 to procure and install the facility, as reported by the News-Leader.
The project also includes plans for a restroom facility at the site.
A Ramp With Two Names
The ramp is also known locally as Wilson Neck Boat Ramp.
Located at 85006 Faye Road in Yulee, the site is a boat ramp and fishing access facility.
Community Adjusts as Regional Ramp Access Tightens
The timing adds some extra weight to the project. Nassau County temporarily closed the nearby Goffinsville Nassau River Boat Ramp on April 15, 2026, due to severe underwater erosion.
