A new campus opened on Arthur Avenue this week. Zeta Charter Schools opened a new elementary and middle school campus in the neighborhood on Thursday, Sept. 17, with room for 600 students in grades three through eight.
The campus, called Zeta Bronx Tremont Park Upper Elementary and Middle School, sits at 1910 Arthur Ave., according to Bronx Times. Zeta founder and CEO Emily Kim and Principal Charlene Caranda celebrated the opening together, with Kim saying the new campus brings state-of-the-art facilities to the neighborhood, per the same outlet.
Caranda, who leads the new school, said the facility was designed to give students room and resources to explore ideas and take on increasingly challenging work. The idea, the Bronx Times reports, is to let students continue their education close to home as they transition into middle school.
What Students Will Find Inside
Beyond the core curriculum, Zeta says the campus will offer arts, basketball, soccer, music, chess and Taekwondo, giving students a mix of athletic, creative and academic outlets in one building. It's part of what Zeta describes on its own site as a school model that focuses on the whole child, according to Zeta Charter Schools.
A separate listing on Zeta's locations page shows a Zeta Bronx Tremont Park Lower Elementary School also based at 1910 Arthur Ave., serving Pre-K through second grade for the 2026–2027 school year, according to Zeta's locations page. That listing does not clarify whether the lower school shares the same building configuration as the newly opened upper elementary and middle school.
Part of a Bigger Bronx and Citywide Push
The East Tremont opening is the latest step in a broader expansion for the charter network. Earlier this fall, Zeta opened its first-ever high school in Washington Heights and its first charter school in Flushing, Queens, the Bronx Times reports. The Washington Heights campus marked Zeta Charter School's first high school campus, according to amNY, and Kim founded Zeta back in 2017.
amNY also reports that Zeta has acquired a site in Mott Haven for a future Zeta Bronx High School, signaling more growth to come in the borough. With the East Tremont campus now open, Zeta operates 14 schools across Upper Manhattan, the Bronx and Queens, per amNY's reporting.
Elsewhere in the Bronx, Zeta's locations page lists a combined elementary and middle school at 1475 Macombs Road serving grades one through six for 2026–2027, according to Zeta's locations page.
