An 18-year-old man is facing multiple charges in Jefferson County after authorities say he raped a 12-year-old girl and recorded the assault on video. Jeromy Tubbs was arrested by Pleasant Grove police and now faces charges of second-degree rape, producing pornography with a minor, and distributing child sex abuse material.
According to WBRC, authorities in Jefferson County accuse Tubbs of raping the girl in July 2026.
Video Allegedly Sent to Another Person
Charging documents cited by the station allege that Tubbs recorded a video of the assault and then sent that footage to at least one other person.
Tubbs now faces three separate charges stemming from the allegations: second-degree rape, producing pornography with a minor, and distributing child sex abuse material.
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children’s 2025 CyberTipline data show the scale of suspected online exploitation reports: the center received 21.3 million reports nationwide, including 31,197 Alabama-related reports across its reporting categories. The figures include reports of suspected exploitation and are not a count of confirmed crimes or unique victims. NCMEC says online platforms and members of the public submit reports, which are made available to law enforcement.
Alabama’s second-degree rape law covers sexual intercourse involving a person age 12 to under 16 when the accused is at least 16 and at least two years older; the offense is a Class B felony. State law separately makes knowingly producing child sexual abuse material a Class A felony and knowingly disseminating it a Class B felony, classifications set out in Alabama’s 2024 amendments.
