A 63-year-old man is fighting for recovery after suffering apparent stab wounds overnight in Honolulu, with emergency crews finding him near Harding Avenue and South King Street just before dawn broke on Thursday. Officials say he was rushed to an emergency room in serious condition.
Honolulu emergency medical services responded to the scene after a report of a patient who had suffered apparent stab wounds, according to Hawaii News Now. EMS crews arrived at the Harding Avenue and South King Street intersection at about 2 a.m. Officials reported transporting the man to an emergency room in serious condition for further treatment.
Details Remain Limited As Investigation Continues
Beyond the location, timing and the man's age and condition, few details have been released about Thursday's incident. No information has been made public about a suspect, a motive or whether a weapon has been recovered. It also remains unclear whether anyone has been arrested, cited or charged in connection with the stabbing.
For residents tracking patterns of violence across the island, Honolulu's police department maintains a Public Highlights page offering a near-real-time snapshot of recent Criminal Investigation Division activity, including brief incident summaries and offense types. The city also makes a broader crime-incidents dataset available to the public through the Honolulu Open Data Portal, which can be connected to spreadsheet and visualization tools. The Hawaiʻi Department of the Attorney General published statewide crime statistics and a dashboard update in September, as noted by the Office of the Governor of Hawaiʻi. A specific count or rate of stabbing incidents is narrower than broader crime statistics.
A String Of Similar Incidents In Recent Months
Thursday's stabbing is not the only one Honolulu has seen in recent months. In February, two men, ages 60 and 55, were hospitalized after separate apparent stabbings reported at approximately 10:36 a.m., according to KHON2. That station reported that a 55-year-old man was allegedly stabbed at a bus stop near Smith Street and Beretania Street by a 30-year-old woman, who then allegedly stabbed a 60-year-old man on a city bus near South King Street and Punchbowl Street. The 60-year-old was hospitalized in serious condition while the 55-year-old was listed in stable condition.
In August, Honolulu EMS responded to an apparent stabbing on Kinau Street involving a man believed to be in his 20s, per KITV. Crews arrived at that scene at approximately 11:10 p.m. and treated the man for an apparent stabbing injury to his back before taking him to an emergency room in serious condition. And in November 2024, KITV reported that EMS responded to a 39-year-old man found near South Hotel Street and Union Mall around 5:15 p.m., also suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper body; he too was transported to a hospital in serious condition, and no possible suspects had been reported at the time of that story's publication.
Earlier Honolulu incidents included reported stabbings at locations other than Harding Avenue and South King Street. Individual cases are not a citywide trend.
