A new drive-thru coffee stand is set to open November 2 at 641 Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk, tucked next door to the Raymour & Flanigan furniture showroom on one of the city's busiest commercial strips. Before the doors even open for business, 7 Brew is giving away free small drinks for more than a week straight, part of a rollout that has become a signature move as the Arkansas-born chain muscles its way into Connecticut.

A Week of Free Coffee Before Opening Day

According to The Connecticut Scoop, the giveaways start with a Friends & Family Weekend running Friday, October 30 through Sunday, November 1, offering one free small drink per customer during set morning and afternoon windows each day. That stretch is followed by community hours from November 2 through November 6, again limited to one free drink per customer during three daily windows, before the promotions wrap with a swag day on November 7 that offers a free T-shirt with the purchase of a large drink while supplies last. It is a deliberate strategy: ahead of other Connecticut debuts, 7 Brew franchise teams have conducted pre-opening community drink drops, handing out as many as 10,000 free beverages to hospitals, schools, car dealerships, and businesses within a 15-minute radius, according to the Hartford Business Journal.

Clearing Norwalk's Zoning Hurdles

Getting a standalone kiosk built in an existing retail parking lot along Route 1 required more than just construction crews. The Norwalk Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously granted a six-month permit extension in January for the 641 Connecticut Avenue site, pushing the municipal approval deadline to August so the applicant could finish departmental reviews before pulling a building permit, per Citizen Portal. The 3.06-acre commercial parcel has long been home to the Raymour & Flanigan showroom, and the project required zoning variances to carve out space for a standalone drive-thru kiosk on the site.

That approval cleared the way for one of 7 Brew's signature fast builds. The chain constructs its stands using prefabricated modular structures, typically around 510 square feet, according to Fox 61's reporting on the company's Connecticut expansion.

A Different Franchise Group Than Central Connecticut

The Norwalk stand isn't being run by the same operators who first brought 7 Brew to the state. Franchise group Drive Thru Brew LLC, owned by Rohan Kapoor and Manraj and Sharon Parmar, opened the brand's first New England location in Wallingford in September 2024, establishing early footholds in central and northern Connecticut towns including Wallingford and Vernon. The Norwalk location instead falls under 7 Brew - Yankee Crew, a separate regional franchise group with stated plans to open more than 80 locations across Fairfield County, Southern Connecticut, and New York.

That kind of ambition fits the brand's broader trajectory. 7 Brew began as a stand offering seven menu choices and expanded to more than 700 locations across 38 states by May, making it the second-largest drive-thru-only coffee chain in the country, per QSR Magazine. The outlet also reports that 7 Brew's average 2024 gross sales were about $2.041 million across its measured system and about $1.989 million for franchised locations.

Staffing at Another Connecticut Stand

A Hartford Business Journal report put staffing at the Wallingford stand at 50 employees.

Connecticut Expansion

At the time of a 2024 report, 7 Brew had a Wallingford stand, while a Vernon location was planned.
