Investigators are looking into whether 17-year-old Leslie Gomez Jauregui and 15-year-old Eduardo Gomez Jauregui may be in Sylmar, about 25 miles from where they were last seen in Agua Dulce, according to KTLA. The siblings had been missing for nearly a month at the time of the report.
The teens were last seen on September 11 in the 37500 block of Wyse Road in Agua Dulce, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, as reported by KTLA. Agua Dulce and Sylmar are about 25 miles apart.
Runaway Status Listed on Flyer
The sheriff's department missing-persons flyer lists both teens as runaways, according to KTLA. Leslie is described as a Hispanic female standing 5 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds, with black and brown hair, brown eyes and a nose ring. Eduardo is described as a Hispanic male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 140 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair featuring bleached tips.
Runaway Cases in National Context
Nationally, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children said it received more than 29,000 missing-child cases in 2024, of which over 27,000 were classified as endangered runaways. The figures show the scale of runaway classifications in NCMEC's cases, but do not establish anything about the Gomez Jauregui case or provide a detailed breakdown of other reasons children were reported missing, according to NCMEC.
Despite the passage of nearly a month, authorities had not located either teen as of the latest update, as noted by KTLA. The possibility that the two could be in Sylmar, about 25 miles from their last confirmed sighting in Agua Dulce, underscores how far a missing-persons case can stretch across Los Angeles County's sprawling geography before investigators catch a break.
