Ala Moana Center is gearing up for its Ala-Ween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 31, bringing trick-or-treating, a dance party and a month-long scavenger hunt to the Honolulu mall. The free event runs from 4 to 7 p.m. and lets families trick-or-treat at more than 100 participating stores and restaurants across the property.

A Free Celebration With Music, Balloons and Prizes

Beyond the trick-or-treating, families can enjoy free entertainment in the Mauka Wing, including a dance party hosted by The Hawaii DJ, prize giveaways and complimentary balloon creations. Dana Cutwright, senior manager of property marketing at Ala Moana Center, joined KHON2’s Wake Up 2Day to preview the festivities and showcase some of the Halloween-themed items available this season, including building sets from The LEGO Store. According to Chain Store Age, the dance party and giveaways are part of a broader slate of family-friendly programming the mall has lined up for the holiday.

Running alongside the main event is a scavenger hunt that continues through Oct. 31. Families can explore Levels 2 and 3 of the Mauka Wing in search of six hidden spooky characters, with completed sheets picked up and returned to Guest Services for a chance at a prize while supplies last, the same report notes.

Ghost Bar Sets the Mood Through Halloween Night

For those looking for an evening scene, Ghost Bar is open nightly from 6 p.m. to midnight through Oct. 31 on Street Level 1 of the ʻEwa Wing. Seasonal treats are also on offer this month, with Brug Bakery serving up Halloween-themed baked goods throughout October.

Dave & Buster’s is holding its own slate of special Halloween events at the center. The arcade and entertainment venue offers a ticketed Boo Bash family event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and an 18-and-older Moonlight Mixer from 7 to 10 p.m.

Shoppers looking for a nightlife option nearby can also check out Emo Night at The Republik, with doors opening at 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, and tickets priced at $10–$15 plus fees, according to Aloha State Daily. Ala Moana Center, which opened in 1959 and today houses more than 350 stores and restaurants, continues to position itself as a central gathering spot for Oʻahu’s holiday crowds, per Chain Store Age’s report. The mall is encouraging visitors to check alamoanacenter.com or follow @AlaMoanaCenter for more information and the full list of participating merchants.
