Camping In Alaska, the post-emo band out of Huntsville, Alabama, is set to play Skatepark of Tampa on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2026, bringing its brand of emotionally raw guitar rock back to the Tampa Bay area to reconnect with fans. The band shares the bill that night with Novely, Deep Bite and Pale Gold, and tickets were priced starting at $24.06.
The show marks the band's return to the Tampa Bay area roughly 20 months after it played Ybor City, according to Creative Loafing Tampa, which credited the piece to writer Ray Roa. That prior stop came on Feb. 7, 2025, when Camping In Alaska played Crowbar in Ybor City, with tickets going for $25 at the time, according to an earlier Creative Loafing Tampa report, which noted the band was celebrating its fourth full-length album at the time, Eggbeater Jesus.
Camping In Alaska is a post-emo band based in Huntsville, Alabama, as described by The Masquerade. The group built its following on its 2013 debut album, please be nice, which Marquette Wire confirmed was released that year. That same record has since surpassed one million streams, according to Rambler! Magazine.
From a Break to a Comeback
The band went on hiatus after releasing an album in 2016, with frontman Austin Davis later reassembling the group for what The Masquerade's companion reporting describes as a 2022 comeback, per the same Creative Loafing Tampa account cited above. A separate interview with Rambler! Magazine describes the band getting back together to play shows in 2019 — the two accounts differ on the exact timeline of the reunion.
A handful of comeback live shows the band has done in markets like Atlanta and Birmingham sold out, AL.com reported in June 2023. The band followed that momentum with Hollow Eyes, released in September 2023, before its next full-length, Eggbeater Jesus.
Heavier Subject Matter, Bigger Crowds
Davis told Marquette Wire that most of the band's newer songs are about dealing with addiction and homelessness, a shift toward heavier subject matter than some of the band's earlier work. He also told the outlet that the DIY emo revival scene surrounding the band has grown dramatically, saying there's like a million more people now showing up and singing along compared with the small shows the band used to play.
Camping In Alaska's catalog has continued to expand in the years since please be nice first broke through. The band's Bandcamp page notes that nine Camping In Alaska releases are now available there, a sign of a prolific run since the group's return to active touring and recording.
For Tampa fans who caught the band's February 2025 Ybor City set at Crowbar, Wednesday's show at Skatepark of Tampa offers another chance to see the Huntsville group up close, this time alongside Novely, Deep Bite and Pale Gold on the same bill.
