Police said the shooting occurred at about 10:15 p.m. Oct. 4 at the Loma Vista Apartments in the 7200 block of Marbach Road. A sergeant said several people approached a man before an altercation and someone fired a gun. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, KSAT reported.
Relatives identified the victim as 25-year-old Alando Deon Marston Jr., known as AJ, and told Fox San Antonio that he died at the hospital the following Tuesday. His family said doctors and medical examiners determined that he died from gunshot wounds to the head and neck and that his death was ruled a homicide.
KSAT reported that police searched the area but did not find the suspects, who had left the scene, and that the investigation was ongoing. Fox San Antonio reported that no arrests had been made in the hours after the shooting. Those reports describe the status at the time; they do not establish a current update.
Fox San Antonio reported that Marston’s family is cooperating with investigators and is asking anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information to contact San Antonio police. Relatives also shared a fundraiser for funeral and burial costs and planned a balloon release for Oct. 24 at 8:30 p.m. at the basketball court at Woodlawn Lake, 221 Alexander Ave., the outlet reported.
