Albuquerque is waking up under cloudy skies Saturday, with temperatures in the low 50s and a mild Halloween afternoon ahead. The forecast calls for a high near 65 degrees, light south winds and a much better trick-or-treating setup by late afternoon.
Halloween Starts Cloudy, Then Brightens
Widespread light rain is expected across western and central New Mexico overnight and through Saturday morning, with most precipitation waning by midday. Temperatures should sit in the mid-50s to low 60s during the evening, making Saturday afternoon and early night the calmer window for outdoor plans.
The National Weather Service expects Saturday night to remain quiet, with the next impactful weather period arriving Sunday into Monday.
Sunday Brings Showers, Thunderstorms And Wind
Sunday looks like the sharp turn in the forecast, with widespread rainfall and southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to 35 mph. Thunderstorms become possible during the afternoon and evening, followed by more showers Sunday night and southwest winds of 15 to 20 mph.
Forecasters are also watching for heavier rainfall across western and northern New Mexico, where saturated ground could contribute to localized flooding and rising rivers. The greatest severe-weather concern is expected farther east Sunday night, but Albuquerque residents should still be ready for a wet, gusty commute and rapidly changing conditions.
Cooler And Calmer By Tuesday
Monday may bring morning showers before partial sunshine, with a high near 63 and west or west-northwest winds. The pattern settles down Tuesday through Friday, with sunny or mostly sunny skies and highs generally in the mid-60s.
