Seaside Grill, the waterfront restaurant at 2810 Alki SW, appears to have closed after just over a year in business. There were no notices posted on the exterior of the building to explain what happened, leaving neighbors and regulars guessing.

According to West Seattle Blog, which checked out reader reports early Tuesday morning, the restaurant was shuttered when West Seattle Blog visited the location. A reader had also forwarded the outlet a social-media screenshot advertising an everything-must-go sale listed to start at 9:30 that morning, though no such notice was visible on-site and it remains unclear whether the sale took place.

A Short Run in a Well-Traveled Alki Spot

Seaside Grill opened a little over a year before this week's closure, moving into a space on Alki that had sat empty for months after Locust Cider shut down there.

Familiar Faces From Pegasus Pizza

The ownership behind Seaside Grill wasn't new to the stretch of Alki. The team included people who had long operated Pegasus Pizza a short distance east, and per West Seattle Blog's closure report, the owner had been a co-proprietor of Pegasus Pizza back when that restaurant occupied the very same Alki space Seaside Grill later took over.

The ownership’s history also includes a worker-pay dispute. The Seattle Solidarity Network said in July that Seaside owner Sarah Suseyi owed a former worker nearly $4,000 in unpaid wages; in an Aug. 10 update, the group said the worker had been paid in full. SeaSol also said it had previously resolved two wage disputes involving Suseyi and her then-husband, Ted Nicoloudakis, during their Pegasus Pizza ownership. The group’s account concerns a separate labor dispute and does not establish why Seaside Grill closed.

Pegasus Pizza was evicted from that Alki location in 2022. The Pegasus Pizza restaurant now operating in The Junction is under different ownership than the one that once ran the Alki storefront, the outlet's reporting notes. Seaside Grill later took over the space.

The turnover at the former Locust Cider site followed a broader retreat by the cider company: it closed seven taprooms in December 2024, including Alki, while seven others remained open at the time. The company called the closures necessary to ensure its future, but said the decision was painful. Locust’s exit preceded Seaside Grill’s opening, adding another change to a waterfront block where storefronts have repeatedly changed hands.

What's Left Unanswered

No official statement from Seaside Grill or its ownership has surfaced explaining why the restaurant closed. The evidence gathered so far doesn't establish an exact final operating date, how many employees were affected, or what might move into the space next.

Seaside’s brief run also came amid restaurant turnover across Seattle. In a DoorDash analysis of participating restaurants open in September 2024, 89.8% of Seattle establishments were still open a year later, compared with 93% across the cities studied. The measure covers businesses on DoorDash, not every restaurant in the city, and does not explain this closure; it offers a snapshot of the churn local restaurants faced during that period.
