Five stores at Station Twelve on Sheridan Drive are set to open their doors on Nov. 5, marking a new retail opening phase at the long-delayed Amherst development. Warby Parker, Alo Yoga, The North Face and Evereve are among the tenants preparing to welcome shoppers next week, following years of construction setbacks at the site.

According to buffalonews.com, five stores at the Station Twelve development on Sheridan Drive will open their doors Nov. 5, with the batch including Warby Parker, Alo Yoga, The North Face, Evereve and more. As WGRZ reports, Just Salad is also planning to open on the same date, and Evereve will operate as a women's clothing store at the center. Station Twelve is an open-air retail center in Amherst on Sheridan Drive, developed by WS Development, the company behind the project, the Buffalo outlet notes.

Construction and site work were still underway as of Thursday, even as the first tenants prepared to open, according to the same buffalonews.com report. The six buildings planned for the site surround a central green space, and future stores are expected to open on a rolling basis through the end of this year and well into 2027, per the outlet's reporting.

A Decade in the Making

Station Twelve is the rebranded former Northtown Plaza, according to audacy.com, which reported that WS Development had only recently begun announcing waves of tenants after years of vacancies at the property. The site sits at 3097 Sheridan Drive near Niagara Falls Boulevard, per wivb.com, which also reports the project is planned to mix restaurants, retail businesses and office space.

WS Development originally bought the site in 2015 and added the Whole Foods store in 2017, according to beenews.com. That outlet reports the project broke ground before construction was halted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and buildwcg.com has separately noted the project broke ground in 2019 before stalling for years during the pandemic. Bizjournals.com summed up the long wait simply: after a decade of waiting, Station Twelve in Amherst is finally moving forward.

What's Coming Next

The development is anchored by Whole Foods Market, according to beenews.com, and is planned to include more than two dozen retail, dining, wellness and lifestyle brands. Buildwcg.com reports the project is planned to total roughly 350,000 square feet of leasable space and 55 to 60 businesses, along with about 10,000 square feet of community green space.

Beenews.com also reported that Station Twelve announced five additional tenants — Coach, lululemon, Gem Studio, J.Jill and Moxie's — as part of the rollout of brands ahead of the late-fall openings. Building C, which will house the next phase of stores, is planned for next year, according to buffalonews.com, while the final building running along Sheridan Drive is set to be completed next summer.

Timelines for the opening have shifted more than once. Wivb.com had earlier reported that tenants would start to open on or about Oct. 15, and buildwcg.com had separately projected the first phase of tenants could begin opening as early as mid-October. Those earlier target dates gave way to the Nov. 5 opening now confirmed for five stores, as the Amherst development continues to take shape while additional retailers and restaurants prepare to follow.
