A single SuperLotto Plus ticket sold at a convenience store in Anaheim matched all six numbers in Saturday evening's drawing, turning an ordinary purchase into a $64 million jackpot. It was the first time in 58 consecutive drawings that anyone had managed to match every number, snapping a long dry spell for California's second-tier lottery game.

A Long Wait Finally Pays Off

The winning numbers drawn Saturday night were 3, 25, 27, 29 and 37, with a Mega number of 17, according to mynewsla.com. That drawing marked the 58th since the last time a ticket matching all six numbers was sold, the outlet reported, a stretch that let the jackpot climb steadily before it finally landed on the single Anaheim ticket. The odds of matching all five numbers plus the Mega number stand at 1 in 41,416,353, according to the California Lottery.

Three other tickets came close but fell just short, each matching the five winning numbers while missing the Mega number. Those near-miss tickets are each worth $13,920, the report noted. They were sold at a liquor store in Sacramento County, a market in Long Beach, and a grocery store in Adelanto in San Bernardino County, spreading the near-jackpot luck across three very different corners of the state.

Jackpot Resets as the Cycle Begins Again

With the top prize claimed, the SuperLotto Plus jackpot will reset to $7 million for Wednesday's drawing. Under California Lottery rules, each jackpot starts at $7 million and grows larger with every drawing that passes without a winner, which is exactly the pattern that built Saturday's prize over roughly 29 weeks of drawings held every Wednesday and Saturday. Whoever bought the winning ticket now has 180 days from the date of the draw to come forward and claim it.

This is not the first time a Southern California jackpot winner has emerged after a long wait. The Sacramento Bee reported that after an Oct. 7 drawing, the jackpot rose to an estimated $62 million. In another drawing, a Fullerton ticket sold at Town & Country Liquor matched five numbers without the Mega number to win $41,839. Back in February, a SuperLotto Plus ticket sold at a Circle K in Upland matched all five numbers plus the Mega number to win a $32 million jackpot, with two other players collecting $17,895 each for near-miss tickets, the Sacramento Bee reported. That jackpot also reset to an estimated $7 million, with a cash value of about $3.2 million.
