The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department is seeking help locating Aaron Poole, a 23-year-old Apple Valley resident with cognitive impairment and multiple medical issues. He left his home in the 21100 block of Willow Springs Avenue on foot at about 11:52 a.m. Thursday. Authorities have classified him as critically missing.
According to VVNG, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department issued a written statement describing Poole as a Black male standing approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Deputies said he walks with a limp, a detail that may help narrow the search as the hours pass.
What Poole Was Wearing When He Left
The sheriff’s department said Poole was wearing a gray Tupac sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black Vans shoes when he left. These details may help people identify him.
The department has not released further details about why Poole left the residence. His cognitive impairment and medical issues are among the information provided in the search notice.
How to Report a Sighting or Tip
Anyone with information about Poole’s whereabouts is asked to contact Detective K. Williams at 760-552-6800. Anonymous tips can be made by calling or texting REPORT to 844-909-3006 through We-Tip, or through the sheriff’s department’s online reporting portal.
California missing-person alerts and records
California has alert programs with specific requirements. The California Highway Patrol says an Endangered Missing Advisory requires a qualifying at-risk condition, use of available local resources, circumstances indicating danger and information that could aid a safe recovery. A Silver Alert may apply to someone who is 65 or older, developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired, but law enforcement must also determine that the program’s other criteria are met.
The California Department of Justice says there is no waiting period to report someone missing and that police and sheriff’s departments must accept reports without delay. The department also offers a searchable missing-person database, but cautions that it includes only a subset of people reported missing statewide.
No later update on Poole’s status has been released. Residents of Apple Valley and the surrounding Victor Valley are encouraged to watch for someone matching his description.
