Arepitas, the Venezuelan restaurant that closed its doors in November 2025, has reopened in a new Round Rock location after a closure that lasted nearly a year. The restaurant is now serving its arepas, empanadas and tostones at 910 Round Rock Ave., replacing the original Greenlawn Boulevard address where it first opened in 2021.
A Year-Long Wait Ends
According to Community Impact, Arepitas reopened in August 2026 after closing in November 2025, a gap of nearly a year between the shutdown and the restaurant's return. The restaurant first opened in 2021 at 3200 Greenlawn Blvd., Ste. 300, in Round Rock, and its new home at 910 Round Rock Ave. sits near RM 620, according to a Round Rock tourism listing.
The move itself wasn't a surprise to longtime followers. Community Impact reported in January that the restaurant planned to relocate near RM 620 and would reopen in the space formerly occupied by The Point ATX. The restaurant had shared a Facebook post announcing the relocation on Dec. 8, 2025, announcing the move before the restaurant reopened in its new location.
Venezuelan Staples Plus American Comfort Food
Arepitas describes itself as a Venezuelan restaurant, and its menu leans into that identity with arepas, empanadas and tostones. The same report notes the kitchen also serves a wider spread of tacos, sandwiches and burgers, blending Venezuelan tradition with more familiar American fare for Round Rock diners.
One standout on the menu is the Pabellón empanada, which according to Round Rock Scoop packs black beans, shredded beef, plantains and cheese into a crisp corn pocket. The restaurant is owned by José Colmenares and José Seijas, per the same outlet, and diners looking for the full menu can check Arepitas' own website at www.arepitasusa.com.
Takeout, Catering and Outdoor Seating
The goroundrock.com listing notes that Arepitas also provides takeout, catering and outdoor seating for customers who want to eat beyond the dining room. Round Rock Scoop separately reported that take-out and delivery have been popular on busy weeknights, suggesting the restaurant's off-site orders have long been a significant part of its business alongside dine-in service.
Fans of the restaurant got their first hint of changes to come straight from the source. On Instagram, the account @arepitas_round_rock posted, “WE ARE MOVING Y’ALL! Stay tuned!” With the new Round Rock Avenue location now open, that promise has been fulfilled after a wait that stretched across several seasons.
