The Arkansas Cornbread Festival is coming back to Little Rock's South Main Street on Saturday, November 7, after a year away, with free admission, cooking competitions and a lineup of local music filling the SoMa District from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Festival organizers describe the event as returning to downtown Little Rock after its hiatus, with the Arkansas Cornbread Festival confirming the November 7 date directly on its website. The festival is centered along South Main Street between 13th and 17th streets, according to KARK, which reports the event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A separate listing from KATV, however, states the festival returns from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 9 — a date that conflicts with the festival's own announced Saturday, November 7 schedule.
Admission to the festival itself is free, but anyone hoping to actually taste the competing cornbreads will need to buy a separate tasting ticket. Per the festival's own site, tasting-ticket holders get to sample every competitor's entry and cast a vote that helps decide the People's Choice Award winner.
Cooks Compete for Cash While Crowds Snack and Shop
At the heart of the day is a cornbread competition pitting professional and amateur cooks against each other for top honors, with amateur competitors eligible to win cash prizes in the Best of Show category. Littlerock.com notes that voters also help determine cash prizes for best cornbread and best side item, while Inviting Arkansas describes the cornbread competition as a test of culinary skill for home cooks and professional chefs alike.
Beyond the judging table, the festival mixes in local makers and artisans, food trucks, area restaurants and a kids zone, according to KARK's reporting on the event's planned activities. The same report notes that festival activities benefit the Arkansas Foodbank, with proceeds also supporting the Arkansas Cornbread Festival's own nonprofit operations. The festival's website separately confirms that both the Arkansas Foodbank and the Arkansas Cornbread Festival are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations sharing in the proceeds.
Music Lineup and a Returning Organizer's Pitch
Festival organizer Leah Patterson said she was excited to bring the event back after a year away, praising the food, the people and the Arkansas Foodbank mission behind it, according to KARK's reporting. The festival's music lineup includes Dikki Du & the Zydeco Krewe headlining the day, along with performances from Reese Von Storch, S. Juain Young & Artists United and The Grass Fed Pickers, per the same report. KARK also notes that the Rock City Diamond Line Dancers and Arky Cloggers are slated to perform throughout the day, with the LB Crew making a special guest appearance.
A Festival That Has Grown Since 2011
The Arkansas Cornbread Festival has been held since 2011, according to littlerock.com, and has grown substantially in the years since. The 2012 festival drew more than 3,000 attendees, and by 2018 that turnout had grown to more than 5,000, with larger competitor prizes and expanded family activities, according to the festival's own history page.
The festival has also leaned into sustainability in recent years. Since 2020, organizers have partnered with Plastic-Free Little Rock on a Toward Zero Waste effort, and the festival says it is continuing that commitment in 2026, encouraging attendees to bring refillable water bottles. More details on the festival, including ticketing information, are available at arkansascornbreadfestival.com and on the festival's social media accounts.
