Two people allegedly carried out three robberies and attempted a fourth across Mount Eden in a single day, targeting victims on the street and making off with cash, jewelry, electronics, a credit card and identification. No one was hurt in any of the four encounters. Police say a gun was displayed in the first three confrontations, and they are now asking the public for help identifying the suspects.

The spree unfolded on September 21, according to News12 | Bronx, which reported that the duo approached a 51-year-old man in front of 1560 Grand Concourse and displayed a gun, though they fled empty-handed after failing to get any property from him. The same report indicates the pair didn't walk away empty-handed for long.

Victim Shoved Into Store Gate on Fordham Road

Not far away, in front of 127 East Fordham Road, the two suspects allegedly approached a 31-year-old man, displayed a gun and shoved him into a nearby store gate. The station's report says they took his credit card, his identification and $15 in cash before fleeing the scene in a gray sedan.

A third victim, a 27-year-old man, was approached by the suspects along with another identified person who also displayed a gun, per the same account. That confrontation ended with the loss of his AirPods and a chain, and the group fled eastbound on Field Place in a car.

Fourth Confrontation Near Sheridan Avenue

The day's violence wasn't finished there. Investigators say the duo committed a further robbery near East 172nd Street and Sheridan Avenue, making off with a chain, a cellphone and a key from a 26-year-old victim, the outlet reported. Despite the string of confrontations and the repeated display of a firearm, no injuries were reported across any of the incidents.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 1-800-577-TIPS. The appeal comes as the NYPD separately works to identify suspects tied to a broader robbery pattern spanning the Bronx's 41st, 42nd and 43rd precincts, as previously reported by Hoodline. Investigators in that case released photos of the individuals sought but have not disclosed how many incidents make up the pattern, and it remains unclear whether the Mount Eden robberies are connected to it.

Robbery Numbers Still Above Pre-Pandemic Levels

The Mount Eden spree lands amid a broader decline in major crime across the city and borough this year. Citywide major crime fell 5.6% in the first half of 2026, with murders dropping to 128 and shootings to 322, according to Vital City. Robberies specifically fell 11.8% during that period.

The Bronx posted the steepest drop of any borough, with major crime down 11.5% in the first half of the year, Vital City reported. The borough accounted for roughly half of the city's entire reduction in major crime despite holding only about a sixth of its population, though the outlet noted that decline was driven mostly by property crime, with felony assault down by less than one percent in the Bronx.

Robbery citywide remains 8.6% above its 2019 level even after this year's decline, according to Vital City's analysis, which found the city of 8.6 million residents still averaged about 36 robberies every 24 hours in the first half of 2026. For Mount Eden residents who crossed paths with the armed pair, that statistic is now a lived reality rather than an abstraction.
