An armed man robbed the Bank of Deerfield shortly before closing Tuesday evening and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was hurt in the robbery at the branch on Shaul Lane in the town of Deerfield.
The Dane County Sheriff's Office said the robbery occurred at about 5:10 p.m. Tuesday, according to hngnews.com. The suspect entered with a gun and demanded cash. The branch is at 867 Shaul Lane, near U.S. Highway 12/18 and State Highway 73, south of Deerfield and northwest of Cambridge.
Stolen Car Turns Up Down the Road
Investigators said a Lincoln MKZ reportedly taken from a bank employee during the robbery was later found in the 500 block of State Farm Road, about a mile and a half east of the bank. The vehicle matched the description of the car reported stolen from the employee, according to the same account.
Sheriff's Lt. Brian Hayes described the suspect as a white male with a red beard who was wearing camouflage clothing.
No Injuries Reported
The amount of money taken has not been disclosed, and the case remains under investigation, according to WMTV15 News.
What the FBI's figures show
The FBI's 2023 bank-crime statistics recorded 260 bank robberies in the North Central region, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. That regional total does not specify Wisconsin alone, and it cannot show how bank robberies in the state have changed in recent years.
