A woman walking to her car on the third floor of the Live! Casino parking garage in South Philadelphia was ambushed by armed robbers who made off with her purse and $4,000 in cash, according to police. The robbery was reported at the casino complex, and investigators are still searching for the suspects.
Police said the robbery happened just before midnight on Thursday, according to 6abc Philadelphia. The outlet reported that the thieves got away with her purse and the $4,000 after confronting her on the third floor of the lot as she made her way to her vehicle. Investigators are now looking for the suspects, who fled the scene in a white Honda Accord, the station reported.
The timing of the robbery is murky. While 6abc placed the incident just before midnight Thursday, October 22, 2026, a separate report from NBC Philadelphia, published June 24, 2025, described an armed robbery happening after midnight Tuesday, June 24, 2025, in the same casino parking lot, in which a large sum of money was stolen at gunpoint. The reported incidents were about 16 months apart, not days apart. NBC Philadelphia noted that no one was injured and that no arrests had been made at the time of its report.
A Garage With a Troubled Recent History
This isn't the first violent episode reported inside the Live! Casino parking structure. In a separate incident, a fight inside the garage left a man stabbed at least twice, per the same NBC Philadelphia account. That stabbing happened around 11:15 p.m. on a Wednesday on the third level of the garage at 900 Packer Avenue, with the attacker fleeing westbound on Packer Avenue in a dark-colored Infiniti SUV.
No details have emerged connecting that stabbing to this week's robbery, and the evidence does not establish any link between the cases beyond their shared location on the garage's third floor.
Part of a Larger Pattern of Gunpoint Robberies?
The ambush comes amid a broader wave of armed robberies that has hit Philadelphia in recent weeks. Police said eight armed robberies involving a group of suspects had occurred since Oct. 2, according to a separate 6abc report, with authorities saying as many as five people were believed involved in that series. Investigators said those robberies bore similarities to a string of armed robberies reported in August that involved masked men and AR-style rifles, though police had not determined whether the cases were connected.
Reporting from the Philadelphia Inquirer described that same citywide pattern in more detail, noting that all of the crimes occurred in the early morning hours and that detectives believe the robbers largely targeted pedestrians who were holding or wearing bags. The Inquirer reported that two males wearing black ski masks and gloves, and wielding handguns, are believed to have committed most of those crimes, riding in a black Honda Accord that had been reported stolen in New Jersey before later switching to a heavily tinted red Honda Accord.
Whether the Live! Casino robbery is connected to that broader series remains unclear, and no evidence confirms a link between the white Honda Accord used in the casino garage robbery and the Accords described in the Inquirer's reporting on the separate string of holdups. Police are searching for suspects in the casino garage case.
