Arsin Rug Gallery now has a second Houston address to go with its longtime home inside Decorative Center Houston, opening a standalone showroom at 5346 Westheimer Road that the family says marks a new chapter for the business. The gallery, known for handmade, antique and custom rugs sourced from around the world, says the Westheimer location will spotlight rare and luxury pieces globally sourced from expert artisans.

According to Community Impact, Arsin plans to host a grand opening celebration for the second showroom, with potential clients, designers and members of the public invited to view the collections and meet the Arsin family. Community Impact reporter Emily Lara's story also notes that the business is a family-owned operation specializing in handmade, antique, contemporary and one-of-a-kind rugs. The Westheimer Trade Showroom, confirmed by Arsin Rug Gallery's own site, sits at 5346 Westheimer Road, Houston, Texas 77056 — a separate address from the company's original Decorative Center Houston location at 5120 Woodway Drive, Suite 1000.

A Family Business Passes the Torch

Owner Saeid Arsin founded the gallery decades ago as part of Houston's local design community, and he says the new flagship represents the company's growth and future. Per the news release cited by Community Impact, Saeid Arsin said the gallery has served Houston's design community for decades with rugs and personalized service, and that having his son Rasam continue the family's passion is meaningful to him.

Rasam Arsin will lead operations at the second location, according to the same release. Saeid Arsin said the company remains committed to its traditions while welcoming Rasam's fresh perspective and vision — language that frames the Westheimer showroom less as a rebrand and more as a handoff within a business the family describes as spanning three generations both abroad and in the U.S., per CultureMap.

Roots Stretching Back to Tehran's Grand Bazaar

That multigenerational story goes back further than Houston. Saeid Arsin has told PaperCity, “We are three generations in this business. It was founded by my grandfather in Tehran's Grand Bazaar in 1910.” He has also said that roughly 90 percent of the business is wholesale, including international sales — a detail that underscores how much of Arsin's trade happens outside the retail showroom floor entirely.

Today the rugs are primarily handwoven and knotted in Turkey, Arsin has told the outlet, with additional carpets sourced from Morocco, Egypt, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Arsin Rug Gallery's own trade page says clients now have access to more than 10,000 handmade rugs across its combined inventory, though a 2021 CultureMap report on the Decorative Center Houston opening had described the company's holdings as exceeding 7,000 rugs and carpets — the current figure may simply reflect inventory growth or a different counting method, but the two tallies don't line up.

What Each Houston Showroom Offers

The two Houston addresses now serve somewhat different functions. The Westheimer showroom is open to walk-in clients and the trade seven days a week, with hours running Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m., per the gallery's own site. The Decorative Center location, by contrast, keeps weekday trade hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, with Saturday visits available only by appointment.

Every rug the company carries is handmade — hand-knotted, hand-woven or hand-tufted — with no machine-made pieces in stock, according to Arsin's website. Custom rugs are available to clients in both Houston and Dallas, as well as through the Westheimer Trade Showroom itself. The Houston location also offers onsite rug cleaning and repair services, CultureMap has reported, and in 2021 the Decorative Center showroom displayed more than 2,000 carpets alongside 500 samples used for custom designs, per PaperCity's coverage of the space.

Arsin also operates a longstanding Dallas showroom inside that city's Design Center at 1025 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 747, according to the company's contact page — the hub from which the family-run business has expanded into Houston over the past several years. PaperCity has previously reported that a third Arsin gallery was in the works for Los Angeles' design district, though it remains unclear whether that location ever opened.
