A 64-year-old Athens man is facing aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated sexual assault charges after police say he held a woman inside his locked home, beat her with his fists and a wooden walking stick, and forced her to perform sexual acts on him before she managed to escape through the front door. Eldrick Gene Oliver was arrested on October 11 and is being held at the Henderson County Jail on bonds totaling $1 million.
According to arrest documents cited by KLTV, Oliver forced the woman to stay in his home and physically and sexually assaulted her earlier in October. The woman told police that Oliver sexually assaulted and attacked her on October 10, and that he told her she would be staying there for four to five months, per the arrest affidavit.
Woman Says She Was Locked Inside
Per the affidavit, Oliver told the woman to go back to his house, and she followed him there. Once she was inside, he locked the door. When she refused to go to the bedroom, he hit her with his fist, the affidavit states, and when she refused his order to perform sexual acts on him, he hit her again — this time with a wooden walking stick.
The woman told police she had been assaulted by Oliver before for not performing sexual acts, according to the affidavit. The document states she tried to get away multiple times before finally escaping through the front door.
Officer Finds Her on Williams Street
An Athens police officer on patrol found the injured woman on Williams Street, where she had sought help at a home after fleeing Oliver's house, and she was taken to a hospital for injuries from the reported assault, as reported by CBS19. The affidavit states that her injuries were consistent with her account and that evidence found at Oliver's home also matched what she described, as noted by KLTV.
Police obtained a warrant for Oliver's arrest, and he was taken into custody the same day, as reported by CBS19. He remains charged with aggravated sexual assault, aggravated assault and aggravated kidnapping, with combined bonds set at $1 million.
