A driver was trapped inside a vehicle early Thursday morning in Aurora, prompting police officers and firefighters to rush in and pull them free.

Aurora police officers and firefighters were called out to rescue the trapped driver after the crash, according to CBS News Colorado.

This is not the first time a crash near Potomac has snarled traffic in Aurora. Back in late August 2025, a separate crash involving a pedestrian shut down eastbound 6th Avenue at Potomac Street for roughly two and a half hours, according to denver7.com. In that earlier incident, which happened just before 5 a.m., the pedestrian was hospitalized with serious, possibly life-threatening injuries while the driver stayed at the scene, and Aurora police's Traffic Investigations Unit handled the investigation. That stretch of roadway reopened around 7:28 a.m. that day.
