Baltimore is starting Tuesday near 60 degrees, but the city is headed for a sunny, summerlike afternoon with temperatures climbing to about 82. The warmth hangs on Wednesday, when the high could reach 87, before a late-week front brings showers, gusty winds and a dramatic cooldown. By Saturday, Baltimore may be reaching only the upper 50s.
Sunny Tuesday Gives Way To Even Warmer Wednesday
Tuesday should stay dry and bright, with a light southwest breeze and a high near 82. Tuesday night will be mostly clear, with temperatures settling around 66, making for a mild evening across the city.
Wednesday looks like the warmest day of the stretch, with sunshine and a high near 87. The National Weather Service says the first rain chances arrive after 8 p.m., when a few showers or thunderstorms could develop.
Showers Arrive Before A Strong Temperature Drop
Thursday turns mostly cloudy and cooler, with a high near 69 and a slight chance of rain showers. Rain chances are about 20% Thursday and about 40% Friday, when showers could linger before 2 p.m. and thunderstorms become possible later in the day.
Friday will still reach about 79, but the weather will turn noticeably rougher as southwest winds strengthen and a cold front crosses the region. Winds shift northwest Friday night, with gusts potentially reaching 20 to 30 mph and temperatures falling to around 46.
The sharpest change arrives Saturday, which should be sunny but windy and much cooler, with a high near 58 and northwest wind gusts of 20 to 30 mph. Saturday night could dip to about 40 before Sunday rebounds slightly to a sunny high near 60.
Chesapeake Water Levels Could Rise Wednesday
For waterfront areas, south winds Wednesday may push water levels higher at sensitive Chesapeake locations. The weather service said Annapolis could approach minor tidal flooding during Wednesday evening’s high tide, while north winds Thursday should send levels back down.
The latest outlook is not a meaningful shift from Monday’s forecast, which focused on rain clearing and midweek warmth. No watches, warnings or advisories are currently posted for Baltimore, but the late-week wind and temperature drop make Friday night through Saturday the stretch to watch.
