A 17-year-old boy has not been seen since about 1 a.m. Friday in Basalt, and state investigators now believe he may have made his way toward Denver, more than 150 miles away. Sebastian Medina Lazo was last spotted in the 400 block of Park Avenue wearing a sky blue shirt and black running pants, and authorities say they are concerned for his safety.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an endangered missing alert for Lazo, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. The alert describes Lazo as a white male standing 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing 160 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. He is also described as having a flower tattoo on one hand and a parrot tattoo on the other, distinctive markings investigators hope the public will recognize.
The bureau’s posting adds that Lazo has a medical condition requiring medication, a detail that underscores the urgency behind the search. Per the same alert, Lazo may be in the Denver metropolitan area, though no further detail on how or why he might have traveled there was included in the notice.
What to Do If You Spot Him
Anyone who sees Sebastian Medina Lazo is asked to call 911 immediately or contact the Basalt Police Department directly at 970-920-5310. The same number is listed for any media inquiries related to the case, which should be directed to the requesting law enforcement agency.
The alert was activated and shared early Sunday morning, and it remains the only information currently available about Lazo’s whereabouts. For more on how these alerts work statewide, the bureau maintains a public page explaining its Alert Program FAQs, and a running list of current notices can be found on its Alerts page.
