Baton Rouge woke Tuesday to clear skies and temperatures around 57 degrees, but the calm start is a preview of another warm, dry stretch. The thermometer is expected to climb into the low 80s this afternoon, with mostly sunny skies and little chance of rain.
Sunny, Dry Pattern Holds Through Thursday
Tuesday's high should reach about 83, followed by a low near 58 Tuesday night as skies clear late. Wednesday and Thursday stay sunny with highs near 84, while overnight lows dip to about 55 Wednesday night and rebound to around 61 Thursday night, according to the National Weather Service.
Fire Danger Remains The Bigger Concern
The bigger issue this week is not rain but dry vegetation. The National Weather Service says elevated fire danger will continue through at least Thursday as drought conditions, dry fuels, low humidity and light to moderate winds could help flames spread. Residents should follow any burn bans and use extreme caution with outdoor flames.
Halloween Weekend Turns Stormier
Friday should stay partly sunny and warm, with a high near 85 and only a small rain chance. Shower and thunderstorm chances rise Saturday, with middle-of-the-road precipitation probabilities and showers and a few thunderstorms possible through early Sunday.
Precipitation chances continue through early Sunday. Conditions are expected to dry out Monday, with temperatures broadly in the lower to middle 80s. For Tuesday plans, light east winds around 5 mph and a dry forecast make for easy outdoor conditions, but the dry ground is a good reason to keep grills, fire pits and yard work under close control.
