Cedar's Tacos, the halal Mexican food stand that built a following out of a pop-up at 4846 Florence Ave. in Bell, is planning to open a permanent restaurant in Orange County. No street address or opening date has been announced for the new location, according to the company.
The expansion plan comes from whatnow.com, which reports that Cedar's Tacos intends to open a permanent Orange County restaurant according to the company website. The business was founded by Mohamad Nabir Farhat, who studied biology at UCLA before starting the halal Mexican food concept as a food stand set up in front of his family's meat market in Bell, per that same report. Cedar's Tacos has already built a presence beyond its home turf, with Yelp describing the business as based in the city of Bell and serving all neighboring counties.
The concept combines Mexican-style tacos with halal ingredients, and the company says its beef is 100% Zabiha and grass-fed, according to the whatnow.com report. Yelp's page for the Bell stand echoes that emphasis on sourcing, noting that the business describes its meats as grass-fed, hormone-free, and hand-seasoned, and calls its food authentic Mexican street food made 100% halal.
What's On the Menu
Cedar's Tacos built its menu around tacos, quesatacos and mulitas, along with burritos, quesadillas, nachos and asada fries, per whatnow.com. Its tacos come on a double tortilla with protein, cilantro, onions, spicy sauce, green salsa and avocado salsa, while its quesatacos use a double tortilla loaded with shredded cheese. The burrito option wraps beans, rice, protein and sauces in a 12-inch tortilla, that reporting states.
The company's own catering page lists chicken, birria and steak as its meat options, with tacos, quesa-tacos and keto-tacos among its catering menu items, according to Cedar Tacos' catering page. Sides for catered events include whole pinto beans, Spanish rice, chips and nacho cheese, the same page notes. The catering page states the business serves the Greater LA County, San Fernando, San Bernardino, San Gabriel and Orange County regions, among others.
Still No Address or Timeline
Despite the expansion plans, Cedar's Tacos has not announced a street address for the Orange County location, nor has it set an opening date, whatnow.com reports. The company also has not determined the future restaurant's hours, and it has not provided details about the new location's size or any menu changes planned for it, according to that same report.
If it does land in Orange County, Cedar's Tacos would be entering a market already dense with halal dining options. Zabihah's directory for the county lists 326 halal restaurants, including Mediterranean and American spots alongside halal meat specialists, according to the Zabihah listing. Other halal concepts have recently made similar moves into the county — the Orange County Register reported that Shah's Halal opened its first Orange County location in Fullerton in November 2025 after starting as a New York food cart.
