Veterans in Berks County will soon have a new place to get their care, with the VA Lebanon Healthcare System announcing plans to open a community clinic in Sinking Spring by early 2028. The facility, set for 4710 Penn Ave. inside part of the former Fecera's Furniture building, will replace the current clinic at 2762 Century Blvd. in Wyomissing.
The announcement, made Tuesday, confirms that the VA Lebanon Healthcare System has awarded a 10-year contract to Motus Development, a real estate development company based in Wyomissing, to build and manage the new facility, according to the WFMZ.com report. Remodeling of the Sinking Spring space is expected to wrap up in October 2027, ahead of the clinic becoming operational in early 2028, according to the Reading Eagle.
A Bigger Footprint With More Services
Once complete, the new clinic will offer 29,388 square feet of clinical space and 150 parking spaces, a substantial expansion over the current Wyomissing location, per the same Reading Eagle report. The planned services span primary care, mental and behavioral health care, women's health care, laboratory services, social work, X-rays, audiology, optometry, physical therapy, pharmacy counseling, nutrition, whole health care and telehealth, per the VA Lebanon Healthcare System news release cited by WFMZ.com.
The expansion mirrors a pattern seen elsewhere in Pennsylvania's VA network. A new community-based outpatient clinic that opened in Huntingdon nearly doubled the size of the previous facility there, according to ABC27.
Leadership Points to Growing Demand
Dr. Stuart A. Roop, acting director of the VA Lebanon Healthcare System, said the joint venture with Motus Development will help meet expanding demand for veterans services in Berks County. He said the achievement reflects collaboration across planning, design, procurement and program leadership, and that the organization's vision and values align with Motus Development, with veterans standing to benefit from the joint operation, WFMZ.com reported.
The VA Lebanon Healthcare System serves a nine-county area in south central Pennsylvania, including Berks County, and is one of 170 medical centers nationwide focused exclusively on caring for veterans, according to WFMZ.com. The system has described the Berks County clinic project as aimed at meeting growing demand for health services in the county.
How Veterans Can Learn More
Veterans who want to learn about eligibility for care and benefits can call 717-228-6000, according to WFMZ.com. The VA Lebanon Healthcare System has separately noted that some people may qualify for care even without enrolling in VA health care, according to VA.gov.
A federal procurement listing on SAM.gov identifies Motus Development 16, LLC as the contractor awarded a Veterans Affairs contract dated Sept. 30, 2026, offering a glimpse at the paperwork behind the announced partnership. For now, the Wyomissing clinic remains the active location for Berks County veterans until the Sinking Spring facility is ready to open its doors in early 2028.
