The birria is officially coming to Coopersburg. Brothers Tacos, the family-run Mexican spot that built a following in Phillipsburg, opened its second location this week at 565 E. Station Ave., the corner storefront that recently said goodbye to a bagel shop.
According to WFMZ.com, the restaurant is known for hand-crafted tacos, burritos, enchiladas and other Mexican favorites. Brothers Wilson and Marvin Gomez opened the original restaurant at 105 Heckman St. in Phillipsburg in March 2024, and their sister, Patricia Gomez, helps with operations. The expansion lets the family serve more customers with a second regional location.
An earlier WFMZ report on the plans said the opening was tentatively targeted for the week of Oct. 25. Wilson Gomez put it plainly at the time: “We’re hoping to be open the week of Oct. 25, but we don’t know for sure yet.”
Same Menu, Bigger Dining Room
Diners should expect the Phillipsburg lineup. “We’ll offer the same menu at the new location,” Gomez said in the earlier report, which also noted that “our birria tacos are the most popular.” Taco fillings include chicken, chorizo, carnitas, al pastor, barbacoa, steak, shrimp and vegetables.
Beyond tacos, the menu runs to appetizers such as ceviche, guacamole, elote and bacon-wrapped jalapeños, plus more than two dozen entrees. Quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, tortas, nachos and salads round things out. For dessert, there's flan, churros, sopapilla and fried ice cream.
The Phillipsburg restaurant seats 36 guests, and the Coopersburg location is set up for around 45. Seasonal outdoor dining is offered at both spots, and Gomez said the Coopersburg restaurant is BYOB.
Daily Hours at a Corner With History
The Coopersburg restaurant operates daily. Hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
The Gomezes renovated the corner property before opening. It was previously home to AD's Kitchen, La Catrina Mexican restaurant and, most recently, Coopersburg Bagels & Deli.
As Saucon Source reported earlier this month, the bagel shop's owners closed up a little over a year after bringing New York-style bagels to town. The same storefront at E. Station Avenue and Main Street in the borough's downtown housed a Mexican restaurant before the bagel shop opened in August 2025.
A Family Business Keeps Growing
This isn't the Gomez family's first expansion. Back in February, lehighvalleylive.com reported that the brothers opened Brothers Food Market at 101 Heckman Street, a corner store next door to the Phillipsburg taqueria, which is open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Now the formula heads across the river and into Lehigh County. For Coopersburg, it means a fresh tenant for a storefront that has changed hands more than once, and a new place to grab a birria taco without leaving town.
