BlackHawk Industrial’s new Tulsa distribution center is the company’s primary Midwest hub. The 72,000-square-foot facility at 12322 E. 55th St. includes 10,000 square feet of office space, The Journal Record reported. It brings the company’s four Tulsa- and Broken Arrow-area operations together at one location.

The company began transferring operations to the building in May, and the transition required several rounds of adjustment, BlackHawk president and CEO John Mark told The Journal Record. He said the separate sites had made it harder to move goods between facilities and assemble customer orders efficiently. Centralizing the operations, Mark said, is intended to help staff work more effectively and improve service efficiency.

The hub also has on-site fabrication for custom structural studs and industrial fasteners. Mark said the work is intended to reduce waits for customers seeking specific parts. He also described the facility as a way to assemble tailored orders for customers in different locations, The Journal Record reported.

Reports describe the hub’s reach somewhat differently: The Journal Record says BlackHawk supplies manufacturing plants in Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas and Missouri, while the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors describes the service area as Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas and North Texas.

BlackHawk held a ribbon-cutting on Oct. 22 with Tulsa Regional Chamber representatives, according to the Distribution Strategy Group. Chamber President and CEO Mike Neal congratulated the company on the milestone and expressed support for its continued growth in Tulsa, The Journal Record reported. The company has not disclosed the project’s investment amount, staffing levels or additional inventory capacity, Distribution Strategy Group reported.
