Honolulu is starting Saturday mostly clear and warm, with temperatures near 78 degrees at the airport. The city should reach about 85 degrees, though isolated rain showers and brisk east-northeast winds will keep the day from feeling completely calm.
Trade Winds Build Through Sunday
Saturday's winds will run 14 to 18 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph, while brief showers are most likely in windward and mountain areas. A shower-enhancing wave is expected Saturday evening, with another from late Sunday into Monday.
Sunday will again reach about 85 degrees, but east-northeast winds could increase to 15 to 24 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. That could make exposed beaches, parks and other outdoor plans feel noticeably blustery, especially near the coast.
Rain Chances Rise Again Midweek
Showers could affect the islands through Monday, with a drying trend beginning Tuesday. Reduced clouds and shower activity are expected through Wednesday.
Friday looks mostly sunny with isolated showers and a high near 86. Overnight lows should remain in the mid-70s throughout the week, so Honolulu's forecast is more about wind and passing rain than any major temperature swing.
East Shore Surf Stays Lively
Strong trade winds are expected to produce above-average surf along east-facing shores through Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect through early Monday for the Kaiwi Channel and several waters around Maui County and the Big Island, so boaters should check conditions before heading out.
