A body was found in the grass along Beaumont Highway in northeast Harris County early Friday morning, and investigators believe the death may be connected to an auto-pedestrian crash. The discovery, made just before 6 a.m. near the 14300 block, has brought sheriff's deputies and crash investigators to the roadside scene.
According to Click2Houston, the Harris County Sheriff's Office confirmed the body was located next to the 14300 block of Beaumont Highway shortly before 6 a.m. Friday. HCSO's watch command relayed the details to the outlet as deputies worked to piece together what happened in the hours before the discovery.
Investigators believe the death may be connected to an auto-pedestrian crash, per the same account, though no further details about how or when such a crash might have occurred were released. The HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division is now handling the investigation, a sign that detectives are treating the case as a traffic-related death rather than ruling out other possibilities outright.
What Authorities Have Not Confirmed
As of Friday, officials had not released the identity, age or sex of the person found along the highway. No cause or manner of death has been disclosed, and the sheriff's office has not said whether any vehicle or driver has been identified in connection with the case. The report notes that no additional information about the person or the circumstances leading up to the discovery was made available.
Separate reports have described other recent incidents along the same stretch of roadway, including one from ABC13, which said Houston police responded to the 9800 block of Beaumont Highway near Liberty Road and found decomposed human remains at about 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Fox 26 Houston separately reported a body found in a grassy area along Beaumont Highway just south of Sheldon Lake and Sheldon Lake State Park. It remains unclear whether either of those reports describes the same incident HCSO is now investigating, and nothing in the available reporting confirms a connection between them.
A Stretch of Road With a History of Fatal Crashes
Beaumont Highway, which runs as U.S. Highway 90 through northeast Harris County, has seen other fatal crashes in recent years. The Houston Police Department investigated a fatal crash at 10100 Beaumont Highway in June 2025 that killed 22-year-old Angel Gamino, according to a release from the Houston Police Department. Months later, in November 2025, police investigated another fatal crash at the same address, though the identity of the woman killed was still pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences at the time.
Other crashes along the corridor illustrate the dangers the road has posed to both drivers and pedestrians. ABC13 reported that a major two-vehicle crash on Beaumont Highway left two people dead and two others hospitalized, with deputies responding around 5:30 p.m. to the 15706 block. In a separate case, another crash was reported on Beaumont Highway.
No arrests or suspect information have been released in connection with Friday's discovery. The Harris County Sheriff's Office has not said when further details might be made public, and the investigation remains active.
