BoxBox, the fast-casual salad and bento concept known for its protein-forward meal boxes, has closed its Park Hill location on Colfax Avenue and is plotting a move to Cherry Creek. The husband-and-wife-founded restaurant shut its doors at the end of August after about a year in business, and it's now negotiating a lease for a new spot at 3003 E. 3rd Ave., with an opening targeted for early 2027.
BoxBox closed its Park Hill location at the end of August while it was negotiating its lease for 3003 E. 3rd Ave., according to BusinessDen. The concept, founded by Tim and Laurie Martin, had operated along Colfax Avenue in Park Hill for a year before the closure, per the outlet's reporting. The former location sat at 5038 East Colfax Avenue, according to Developing MyCity.
On its website, BOXBOX confirms the closure directly, telling customers, “We've closed our Colfax doors as we relocate to our next Denver home.” The company describes itself as a locally-owned Denver fast-casual restaurant serving “hearty, satisfying lunch and dinner, plus family and group meals,” and its menu has centered on customizable, bento-style salad boxes built around full-meal portions.
A New Home Where Vegan Ice Cream Once Scooped
The new Cherry Creek space will replace Sweet Izzy, a vegan ice cream shop that recently shuttered at the same 3003 E. 3rd Ave. address, the BusinessDen report notes. Sweet Izzy had billed itself as “the first and only completely plant-based ice cream shop on Cape Cod and now in Denver, Colorado,” according to Cherry Creek North's business listing. A Yelp page for the business was updated in October 2026 to mark it as closed.
No exact opening date, lease terms or details on the reason behind the Park Hill closure have been disclosed. BoxBox says it intends to use the relocation as an opportunity to refresh its offerings rather than simply replicate its old menu in a new space, stating on its site, “We're using this move as a chance to evolve the BOXBOX menu, with new dishes, more options, and a few surprises we can't wait to share.”
From Pickup Window to Full Dining Room
The Cherry Creek move follows a period of operational change for BoxBox. The Colfax location had shifted away from a primarily off-premise setup toward a fuller dine-in, pickup and catering operation once its dining room opened, the same outlet reported. Before that shift, the restaurant leaned on takeout and online ordering as core parts of its business.
BoxBox is not the only concept reshaping Cherry Creek's restaurant scene. Earlier this year, the Green Collective announced plans to rebrand as Every Little Thing and take over the former Town Pump Provisions space in the neighborhood, according to The Denver Post, part of a broader wave of Denver-based concepts expanding into the area.
For now, BoxBox customers will have to wait out the gap between its Colfax closure and its planned early 2027 debut on East 3rd Avenue. The company has not detailed hours, a phone number or a finalized menu for the new location, but its message to regulars has remained consistent: the brand is relocating, not disappearing, and betting that a Cherry Creek address and a reworked lineup will set up its next chapter.
