The Milwaukee Brewers are inviting fans to watch Game 3 of the National League Championship Series together at American Family Field, even though the team will be playing on the road. The free watch party kicks off Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. at the UW Credit Union Plaza, with gates opening an hour earlier at 6 p.m.
Tickets were required for entry but free, and 3,000 complimentary tickets were offered. Complimentary tickets became available starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with fans able to claim up to five apiece through brewers.com/Postseason, per a release from Milwaukee Record. The Brewers invited fans to the official watch party as the team's postseason run continued; FOX6 News Milwaukee reported that complimentary tickets were gone and reserved tickets were sold out.
The plaza setup is designed to feel like a ballpark hangout even without a live game in the building. The watch party will feature live game viewing, food and beverages available for purchase, team merchandise for sale, interactive fan activities and Brewers entertainment, the same release notes. Parking will be complimentary for anyone attending.
What to Bring and What Could Cancel It
The Brewers are encouraging fans to bring their own chairs and dress for the weather conditions, since the plaza event is outdoors. That guidance comes with a caveat: in the event of inclement weather, including rain, the party could be canceled entirely, the report states.
There's no word yet on whether similar gatherings will happen for the rest of the series. Watch party information for Game 4 on Thursday and the if-necessary Game 5 on Friday will be announced at a later date, according to the same report.
How the Brewers Got Here
Milwaukee's NLCS matchup is a best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, as detailed in a series preview from OnMilwaukee. The Brewers finished the regular season with 103 wins, a franchise record, while the Dodgers went 100-62.
This isn't the first time the Brewers have rallied fans at the UW Credit Union Plaza this postseason. An earlier gathering was billed as a Rally for October fan celebration and watch party at the same plaza, held in late September, according to OnMilwaukee's earlier coverage of that event.
