BugBros plans to expand into Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Oklahoma through a joint venture with Kansas City-based Titan Group. The Journal Record reported that Titan approached founders Aaron and Jason Thomas about expanding the pest-control business, and that this is the brothers’ first joint venture. The report also says the partners plan to hire in all four states as locations launch under the arrangement.

An operating model built around automation

BugBros markets pest control without ongoing contracts and says it will return until customers are satisfied. The company says it has developed hundreds of automations for tasks including appointment scheduling, sales quoting and customer onboarding, describing automation as a way to serve more customers without adding administrative staff, according to its account of a feature in Lawn & Landscape.

A fragmented industry with staffing constraints

National Pest Management Association data put U.S. structural pest-control service revenue at $13.416 billion in 2025, up 6% from the prior year. The association reported 13.29 million residential customers and said recurring revenue made up 85.4% of residential service revenue. The figures are from the association’s 2025 industry report.

The same report counted 16,565 pest-control firms; 81.4% operated one or two locations. It also found that 36.8% of surveyed owners and managers said a shortage of qualified technicians constrained revenue growth, according to the National Pest Management Association.

The company’s path to this expansion

The Journal Record reported that the brothers put proceeds from the sale of Oklahoma City lawn-care business Dawn’s Lawn into BugBros. They bought Dawn’s Lawn in 2021 and sold it to SavATree for more than 10 times its purchase price, the report said.

BugBros grew from a small pest-control business Aaron Thomas bought in 2015 after moving to Dodge City, Kansas, when his father became ill with cancer. He initially ran service routes from his parents’ basement; Jason later joined him full time. These company-origin details, like the expansion account, were reported by The Journal Record.
